3/3/2018 – Do you have soaps without coconut oil? I have an allergy to it.
Response From MoonDance Soaps & More: Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your concerns about coconut oil. Every single bar of soap we make, contains coconut oil. It's a fabulous oil for soap makers that provides a beautiful dense, thick lather.
That said, I really don't think you would have any type of reaction to the soap. The process of soap making combines the oils with sodium hydroxide and the resultant product of the chemical reaction is a salt that we like to call soap. It is the plant alkaloids that normally cause immune reactions (allergies), and these compounds are destroyed during the chemical reaction in the strong hydrolysis that makes the soap.
While each allergy is "unique" to the person who has it, the best and safest test is to try a very small amount on the back of a hand. If you develop any rash, then discontinue using the soap. But remember, there is virtually no chance that a reaction will result -- the allergy causing compounds simply can't survive the process.
As an aside, it's an interesting comment on the soap making industry that the FDA does not require soap manufacturers to list our ingredients at all. I do so because I am very proud of the premium natural ingredients that I use. I'm happy to hear that you read the packaging. Unfortunately, not many people do.
